Things That Make Me Go, "Huh?"

Here are some things that have come to my attention lately and they, frankly, boggle my mind:

1. Supreme Gas. Really? I would like to know the people who buy the supreme gas instead of the lowest grade. I mean, really...in this economic environment with Gas prices soaring faster than Quinn can poop a diaper (and that's fast!), why would anyone buy supreme grade gasoline? Why are gas stations carrying it? ON the sign out front of the Gas station, where they list the fuel grade and the prices, it should read: 87: 3.45 93: We'll have to check your income statement. In my opinion, if one is driving the kind of car that NEEDS supreme grade gasoline, then one obviously has enough spare moolah to buy the poor joe-shmoe behind you his tank of low grade. And, if one is driving the kind of car that NEEDS supreme grade gasoline and one doesn't have enough spare moolah, then one might want to rethink their priorities.

2. Liberals are open minded; conservatives are not. Really? I don't find this to be an absolute; however, somewhere in the liberal manifesto it says, "WE ARE ALL OPEN MINDED and NO ONE ELSE IS!" Also, how is it that all conservatives hate the environment, are selfish, and can't stand or care about the welfare of humanity? This attitude, frankly, is insulting to me and to many people who I know and love who are conservative. I could be the greenest person on the block, I could volunteer every spare hour I have in some way, and I could give away every un-needed thing I own; yet, because I may just vote for McCain or because I DID VOTE FOR GWBUSH (and TWICE!!), I am horrible. Really? In conversations with other people, typically with those who are not conservative, I am often flabbergasted by how gently I must tread in my statements, how validating of the other side I have to be, and how careful I need to be in listening very intently and carefully; yet, I remain continually offended, put off, cut-off, and not-listened to by the other participant of the conversation. Does any party really have the claim to "open mindedness"? Can anyone truly claim party superiority? Is any party void of selfish tendencies? Is anyone party truly for the good of humanity? I'm just tired of it. I wish there was more understanding of truth. I love my liberal friends because of what they bring to the table that I can't or haven't thought to bring to the table; I pray that they would say the same about me.

3. Obama is a near savior. Really? Is he really going to be able to do all those things he's promised? Is he really that wonderful? Can a MAN single handedly revamp a sick, sick, institution and save the world? Haven't we heard promises before that haven't been fulfilled because the system is broken? I think he's handsome, and smart, and charismatic. He's got fire and pizazz. I don't think he has the necessary experience, but I don't think he's a horrible man or evil or bad. I'm not actually criticizing him as I am in the hope that he's our political savior. He will fail us, if elected, just like those who have gone before him. He will do some good things and some bad things. We have this tendency (both democrat and republican) to think that our system is fine, we just need to find the right person to run it. It isn't fine. It's broken. It might be one of the best broken systems out there, in my opinion, but it is still broken and no HUMAN is going to make it run correctly. Here is the dirt--whether you are Christian or not, I'm gonna say it: no HUMAN, no matter how much altruistic hope you through at them, will be able to fix a sick, diseased, fallen, sinful world; it is only the DIVINE MAN, JESUS CHRIST, that will be able to fix all that is wrong once and for all. His kingdom has been inaugurated on this Earth with His life, death, resurrection, and ascension and we wait in expectant hope for HIM to return, for HIS KINGDOM to collide with this Earth, and then, and ONLY THEN, will the system be fixed (not the democratic system for all man made systems will be eliminated, but the system of the world), will the world be mended, healed, made well, and made glorious. It is not in barak obama that we trust, but in God, in His one and ONLY Son, Jesus Christ.

These are just a few things that I have been thinking about. I hope I didn't offend. I'm just venting on my own blog.
